Professor Ewan Gillon is an HCPC registered counselling and health psychologist who is currently clinical director of First Psychology. Ewan has extensive experience in the field of education and training, having worked within university settings for around 20 years, most recently as Professor of Counselling Psychology at Glasgow Caledonian University where he set up and ran the doctoral framework in applied psychology. Ewan has contributed to a wide range of professional training courses in the therapy field and held external examining posts at a number of universities in the UK including the University of Manchester, City University, Teeside University and Metanoia Institute. Ewan has written widely on different aspects of the counselling and psychological therapy fields, including a book on person-centred counselling psychology (Sage, 2007). Ewan was a general member of the Mental Health Tribunal (Scotland) for 15 years and currently holds the honorary title of Emeritus Professor at Glasgow Caledonian University. He has a core advisory and consultative role in the Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychological Therapies, particularly on issues linked to curriculum content/ development, quality assurance and training effectiveness. Ewan is also involved in ensuring First Psychology Training provides a range of short courses that are of high quality and direct relevance to the practitioner community.
